Academic Positions

Over the next ten years Georgetown University will replace nearly one-third of its tenured faculty. Search committee members have an unprecedented opportunity to shape the next generation of our faculty and ensure that the University remains competitive and innovative in a globally engaged, diverse world. Diversity is an integral part of building great institutions of higher learning and is critical to this University’s mission and values. Hiring a diverse faculty who excel in creativity, innovation, and discovery is critical to our future.

IDEAA, in conjunction with various Faculty Affairs Offices, has developed this faculty search resource to increase the effectiveness of the University’s efforts to diversify tenure-related faculty. The goals of this and related initiatives are as follows:

  • Enhance the diversity of Georgetown faculty to align with the changing face of America and to reflect our global position.

  • Refine Georgetown’s appointment policies, processes and procedures to overcome institutional barriers to diversifying our faculty.

  • Challenge our conventional practices and implicit assumptions about faculty recruitment to ensure conscious and deliberate considerations of diversity-related issues.
