Diversity Recruitment Sources

It is the goal of Georgetown University and its departments to advertise, recruit vigorously, and employ qualified candidates, particularly minority persons, women, veterans, and persons with disabilities. This effort upholds the University’s Affirmative Action Plan as well as the requirements of the Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs.  To this end, we strongly encourage you to review and utilize the recruitment sources we have provided, and to review the guidance below regarding advertising and the use of external search firms:

Required EEO statement for FACULTY AND STAFF POSITIONS:

The following language should be used in all advertising for faculty and staff positions:

“Georgetown University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer fully dedicated to achieving a diverse faculty and staff.  All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity and expression, and sexual orientation), disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.”

EXTERNAL SEARCH FIRMS:

If your department has received approval to use an external search firm, please communicate the University’s Affirmative Action in Employment Policy. When selecting a firm to support your search efforts, ask its representitive about their commitment to diversity, their diverse outreach and recruitment strategies, as well as their track record in identifying and placing diverse candidates.

When contracting with a firm, please work with the University’s Revenue & Receivables department to ensure that the firm’s policies meet the University’s Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action obligations.

One of the aforementioned obligations is to collect and report on applicant demographic data. Please ensure that the selected firm is able to collect such data, or otherwise require that all applicants apply to the position directly through the Georgetown career site. The firm can confidentially provide this information directly to IDEAA at ideaa@georgetown.edu, along with the relevant search information.

Please note that any academic area using a search firm to recruit and hire a full-time faculty position must still submit to IDEAA all components of the Affirmative Action in Recruitment Report, which can be found on the Faculty Hiring Procedures page.
