Tonya Hinds
Tonya Hinds joined Georgetown University in October 1997 as a Client Support Representative. She quickly moved from that position to an Operations Associate. Her responsibilities included assisting internal and external clients with job searches, on-boarding, employee and labor relations, and recruiting.
In October 1999, Ms. Hinds became an EEO Specialist in Georgetown University’s Office of Affirmative Action Programs. In that capacity, she was the intake coordinator for all discrimination complaints filed internally or externally through three federal agencies: The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”), The District Office of Human Rights (“DCHR”), and The Office of Civil Rights (“OCR”). Ms. Hinds also supported the Director of Affirmative Action Programs and served as the office manager. She also managed and reported quarterly on the University’s Local, Small, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (“LSDBE”) program.
In November 2005, Ms. Hinds was promoted to Assistant Director in the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Affirmative Action Programs where she investigates complaints of discrimination and harassment. Ms. Hinds also conducts salary equity and administrative reviews, in addition to assisting the Vice President of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Affirmative Action (IDEAA) with specialized research and reports on current Diversity and Equity issues in Higher Education. Ms. Hinds also conducts departmental overview presentations, and represents the Department at seminars, conferences and meetings. She is the University contact for the LSDBE now referred to as the CBE (Certified Business Enterprises) program and will begin creating its annual consortium CBE fair for local and potential business partners located in Washington D.C.
Ms. Hinds received her BA in 1997 from Trinity College in Human Relations and BioEthics; a Legal Assistant Certificate from Georgetown University in 1999, and her Masters in Liberal Science from Georgetown University with a concentration in Public Policy in 2008.
